Did you use a small c-clamp and something like an 8mm 1/4" socket as a drift to push in the disc(s)?

My '87 desn't need any adjustment but I looked at it and
I see a steel insert or disc about 10mm in diameter out near the end of the aluminum casting on one side and a large phillips head screw on the other side.

They changed mounting position of the WUR over the years and the angle it's mounted on an '87 the disc is out on the end of the top side of the casting protrusion that sticks out and houses the bimetalic spring and heater element and the large phillips head screw is on the bottom opposite it.

Is your's like that? I don't see a small disc.
