mystery bit

This bit fell out of my engine at some point while I was stripping it down. It is now back together and ready to go in the car. I just found it while emptying the drip tray I keep under the engine while working on it.
Looks like it might have something to do with an oil line??
It is hollow, slotted at both ends.
Never seen one before. But this is the first time I have pulled a 930 down.
Any ideas where I need to stick this back?
Thanks
Alan
