Yeah, Bob makes the backing plates, and the comp nuts, and tons and tons of turbine housings for Garrett. He's got a first rate machining operation.
That turbo was built by Turbos Direct, one of Garrett's master distributors. That combination had the nickname "Blowzilla."
Does the aero nut help? Unless the mass is such that it increases the rotating assembly's moment of inertia, I don't think it hurts. We've got 930s out there for years, no issues, so I don't see a negative effect on reliability.
We've done 595rwhp on 100-octane on a 3.5L 930 (flat manifold) with that Stage-V turbine wheel, 0.82A/R T31housing, and a larger compressor wheel. It'll flow.
The flow of the GT35R comp wheel has been covered before.
