The 930 box is slow by design. You can replace all the dog teeth and all of the brake bands and still end up with a slow shifting transmission. I did all the parts on my slope and the parts bill was around $2k. I did the labor myself. I replaced the dog teeth on 3rd and 4th in my other gearbox and that was still around five bills for two parts. There was a great post a few years back describing the design factors that contribute to the slow shifting nature of our gearbox. Something to do with the dog teeth and the brake band stops. I will see if I can dig it up and post a link.
I have no idea what a shortened G50 costs but that seems to be the only way to really improve the speed of shifts.
But then again... I may get corrected before I have a chance to find the primary source.
