For what it's worth,

I did my trans about 2 1/2 years ago, all new bearings, all new syncro rings, new friction rings(balk rings), gaskets & fluids. @$2500 in parts(including the labor for the syncro rings). I did my own R&R plus disassembly & re-assembly.

I did not need any hard parts, like gears or shafts, just all the wear parts.

I also added a short shift kit from our host while I was at it, shifts great, drives great, been 40K miles now, still going strong!
