No.

The bottom half of the shift lever has to to point straight up without angling forward or backward when in nuetral or else it will cause problems getting the synchro hub slider teeth completely engaged into the gear selector teeth in second and fourth gear, depending on how far the shift lever is angled back from the correct position.
I don't expect you to believe that though.
