I use the generic round 5 1/8" air filter plunked on top of the air meter assembly. There is a cone filter available that looks to be more cubic inches.

Yes the barbed fitting is smaller than the OEM hose. I used a small length of hose and a worm clamp to step up the size. There is no pressure on this vent hose so the only concern is to keep it away from the turbo and that was not difficult. The 90 fitting that screws into the tank will do that for you.
