J930, how do you know your AAR is working correctly as you've mentioned? Simple test is to pinch the hose leading to it from the IC shortly after starting her cold, and the rpms should drop - vs. pinching the hose when fully warm and the rpms should not drop (and/or pull the hose off and look inside to see how far she's open). Or you can always remove the AAR and put it in the fridge next to last nights leftovers and see if the disc opens....and conversely put it in the oven whilst reheating last nights leftovers (at around 150) and see that it closes.

Between that and the idle screw setting and/or your idle mixture - and/or your ignition timing, those are the things that affect idle.
