This is some info I found.

Several years ago we installed the damper shown in the photos, The reason for this mod is to reduce the sensor plate occillations that can occur when using camshafts with longer duration, In addition to Porsche , It has been used by RUF and other tuners in the late eighties in some of their modified 930's .
The vent should be run into the air cleaner housing , in case there is a diaphragm failure
