basically I think it is a mini Accumulator that acts directly and specifically on the CP/Airplate system to smooth out aberrations. I also came across some info on it recently while reading something else. Will try and find. But you can imagine the airplate and CP line/fuel head are basically hard wired to each other, with liquids being incompressible. This system placed in the hard wiring allows some buffering via the spring/diaphragm. Dont know about the one in the pic, but mine had an adjustable hollow screw in the base. The hollow bit is to vent the base to atmosphere and it seems you can tweek it to set various spring pressures - probably in accordance with the CPs you are running.
