Since you have swapped out several alternators, without any further testing on the units I would assume that they are good (ie the diodes are all good which if one were bad, you would get the glow). it also sounds like the regulator is doing its job. I would suspect that you have wiring issue, such as a poor ground or positive to the battery. you could check the voltage drop between the positive output of the alternator and the + terminal of the battery, or the engine case and - terminal of the battery. if you are seeing more then a .1 Volt drop across these connections, you have a poor circuit. also make sure that you have the ground strap from the engine and the transmission well connected, double check the 14 pin connector at engine harness as well as the connections at the starter.
