They work fine as long as your alignment is good to the up-pipe. Any sidewise torque/misalignment may allow it to leak some.
I'm one of the fortunate....mine works flawlessly. They're a nice clean attachment point - making it real easy to pull off your up-pipe whenever needed - but for the price and security a silicone hose and two clamps are probably the way to go.
