Not Enough Air !!!!!

I have been looking at addressing the stock air cleaner
inadequacies Jeff spoke of in hopes of making sure the “Old Sled” gets
enough air. Jeff commented on how the factory air cleaner is made and the
bends, convoluted shapes, and angle changes it goes through before
the air gets to the metering plate. He attributes the lack of air at the
metering plate to that stock air cleaner design.

I started looking at original 934 CIS factory cars to see how the air
intake was designed. It’s difficult to find good pics of original CIS 934’s
because most were converted to 934.5’s and the CIS was changed to
mechanical injection.

From what I have found all the original 934 CIS cars used a simple
5 inch dia. short stack with a 30* angle 2 inches above the air meter
opening. It had a cross pattern rib inside the top of the stack and a
simple screen covering the top with no air cleaner.

Interestingly that 5 Inch dia. stack can flow around 2200 cfm of air.

Original 934 Intake Stack !!!!!

What Does One Do When You Can't Find One !!!!!!

You Make One !!!!!!! Better Get Ready Arlo !!!!!
