Absolutely correct. You see the same (relative) impact on a NA car when running down the road on a brisk winter morning, as opposed to blasting through the desert on a hot summer day. Guess which scenario the car runs strongest at?

As Brian said - "The throttle body sits in a slightly different plane on the 3.0 as compared to the 3.3L engine" - I wonder if it would be do-able to leave your 3.0 manifold in place and briddge the gap from the IC with a somewhat flexible silicone hose adaptor? Of course, you'll still need to install a BOV somewhere.
