Your '89 930 transaxle is not made by Porsche like all the Porsche 930, 915, and 901 gearboxes made before 1989. Your '89 G50 5 speed is made by Getrag for Porsche and it's a better more modern shifting gearbox because it has the borg warner synchro units that work fine in GL5 synthetic gear oil.

I'm mentioning this because you sound like you want the non synthetic swepco GL5gear oil.
Either one will work in your G50 but the synthetic oil will work alot better for you because it doesn't thicken up as much as non synthetic oil when it's cold so being in Canada you'll have much smoother and faster synchro action when shifting with synthetic gear oil on cold days.

Not trying to confuse you but just about any top shelf 75w-90 or 80w-90 GL5 synthetic gear oil will work great in your G50. If you have a LSD differential be sure to get the gear oil with limited slip additive or the LSD clutches will chatter when accelerating around slow corners.

Redline, Amsoil, and Mobil One Delvac are three of the best top shelf synthetic gear oils made in the states. The Porsche factory fills their new Getrag transaxles with Mobil One Delvac synthetic gear oil.

Royal Purple synthetic may be good or it may be all Nascar marketing behind it.. I don't know anybody that uses it and the others have been around alot longer and are proven name brands.
