I sorta went thru the same thing with my car trying to get it running, it now has a completely new ignition system. Everything I replaced needed it, but it sure was frustrating. I'd just say don't forget the "green" wire from the distributor, where the wire runs get very hot and the wire insulation cracks; usually where it comes out of the distributor, mine was actually brown from the heat in spots and the insulation was cracked in several places. My car starts and runs good now, and sounds great with the hooligan muffler ;o)
