Game over - time to abandon the single cause theory

Well I was hoping to solve this ignition problem methodically so we could record the failure mode of a specific part. Looks now like that is not going to happen.

When I bought this car I was told by the mechanic that serviced it that the car was road worthy and I should hop on a plane and drive it the 800 miles home.

What a lyingsonofa***** this guy was.

He was even so kind as to charge the A/C for me for $250 on a system that does not work. Not to mention the rear parking brakes that were held in place with bailing wire that drug on the rotors.

So here is the latest.
> CDI box, replaced
> Coil, replaced
> Overboost Switch, replaced
> Coil Wire, replaced
> 14 Pin Connector, checked and cleaned
> Relays, tested


So it's time to go into the distributor. The above mentioned mechanic tells me this car was tuned up a couple years ago.
What do YOU think?

Plug wire #1 is corroded as well. I'm done dickin' with this mess; it's all coming out and new/rebuilt components going in. Probably what I should have done to begin with; unfortunately I believed this jackass mechanic and thought I could enjoy driving the car while restoring it.
