I removed it from my 95 993 - 930 wannabe. Light and simple, but reflecting back it didn't really save much weight, just the pump unit. Also, if the 965 is anything like the 993 it also uses a wheel speed sensor to feed the speedometer via the ABS computer. No way to drive the speedo without the computer remaining in place unless you rig up another way to drive an older pre 89 speedo. I had to do this once with a magnet ring behind a CV joint and p/u so I could drive an electronic speedo from an old mech drive transaxle.

I hear the 965 has a different brake system with some sort of pressure accumulator. Not sure how those work, or if there is any connection to the ABS system like your mech told you.
