I have an '82 turbo with 160,000 kms. It was resealed at 142,000, and so far no engine work, and not enough oil burned between changes to notice. Mobil 1 synthetic 20/50 changed every 4.000 kms (2500 miles). Not a drop of oil under the car. There had been a small drip on one of the heat exchangesr from the valve cover but gaskets were changed during the winter valve adjustment and so far so good. I don't track the car. I have heard that synthetic contains detergents that may create problems, and have also heard that dino oil causes cokeing. The more reading = the more confusing this topic becomes.
