I think he is asking too much for the 964.....and depending on the model they have their issues as well. Your mechanic is obviously not a dedicated Porsche guy. You don't beat on a is simply driven. My mechanic told me " you don't break Porsche' just find the weak parts. These cars are meant to be DRIVEN. So having said that, I would get the modded 930. Unless it has some bastard Honda stuff attached, Porsche enthusiast always love the mods and creativity. If it is not constantly smoking with oil smoke and the engine is not leaking all over, then chances are it has not been abused by someone who doesn't know about driving these cars.

Good luck with you choice, with either 930 you will be happy......much happier than if you bought the 964....IMHO
