87 924s rough acceleration when cold

Car starts just fine but when you quickly rev the engine with no load, it stumbles and almost falls on it's face...then it will catch back up and wind up. Once the car is up to operating temperature it runs great...throttle response is peppy as it should be??

Things I've done so far..
I took the AFM apart and did the voltage testing (per clarks-garage)...I notice that there was zero voltage coming into my meter when the flapper is completely closed and up to about 10% throttle when working the slider by hand. When I rotate the slider beyond 10% the voltage starts to increase as desired. I then put the AFM back on the car with the top open and noted the position of the slider at idle..it is just beyond the 10% area and would lead me to suspect that the AFM is functioning as intended.

TPS sensor checked out good on ohms for both closed and WOT.

Has anyone else experienced the lack of voltage through their AFM at fully closed (zero airflow) position or is this normal...clarks writeup indicates voltage should be evident throughout the entire slider rotation?

Only thing I didn't verify was the AFM temperature sensor resistance level but I will check that later today.

any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
