Tires rub, is smaller tire ok?

1988 930. 225/50/16 in front, 245/50/16 in back. Bbs wheels.

Like some other posts I have seen on here, my right tire sticks out a bit further than the left. There was a prior fender bender, mild, which was repaired.

Drives me nuts. Frame shop checked pick up points for a-arms, and they were within 3 mm or so. Not perfect, but close.

The front tires are pretty dang wide. Was the stock size 205?

Would 205s fit the current rims, or would that look odd?

There are lots of ways to make a tire stick out further, but is there any way to make it stick out less? I can add a quarter inch spacer on the left for looks, but then both tires would rub...

I am really hoping not to have to buy new rims....

Any help appreciated. Thanks...
