We waded thru 6 inches of records, the car was a ruf conversion 3.4 twin plug done in nj in 96 (engine to Germany), ff to 2003, I guess the po smoked a piston with the ruf dial of death and he went elsewhere to rebuild, adding a fancy crank trigger ignition.
In person the car is sharp, runs like oem (ruf for ya), it is extremely fast, shifts nice. Needs about a thousand dollars in switches and fuses, etc and a big time detailing. It also needs a trip to the griffiths ac shop. The po spent an astounding 77k in mods start to finish.
I'd like to buy it and return it to its ruf roots. During the rebuild, they discarded a lot of ruf stuff, it still has the ruf notched air box in place, and some ruf gauges.
There was also a receipt for the ruf 5 speed, 12k, never delivered??
My feeling is that after spending a yr plus in the ruf shop, and being bled like George Washington, he'd had enough and just took the car home.
Interesting car with an interesting history.
I'm also looking at another 505 slant black stock, fresh rebuild.
Leaning towards the ruf if the price is right. The slant is about 10k more $.
I am gonna ask Tim or ken to give their opinion as we get closer.
