I've got one and the gauge and Z block that I bought around 1990 when I owned a '73 911T Targa (wish I still had that car). Seems I used it for setting cam timing if I recall, after suffering a tensioner failure, bent valve, and had to pull the heads to fix. Feeler gauges are easier by far to check valve lash - no cumbersome setup involved as with the gauge. But if the motor's out of the car, then it's pretty simple and very accurate.
Mark H. 1987 930, GP White, Wevo shifter, Borla exhaust, stock everything else. The result of a massive Pelicanite good will fire recovery effort. Truely an open book, ready for the slippery slopes to modification.
