There is no single answer to this much asked question. Generally most use 20/50 weight dinosaur oil, many have switched to full synthetic which may or may not spring some leaks depending on the condition of engine seals. Full synthetic won't coke up in your turbo as much as dinosaur oil.

Do choose an oil that has the highest ZDDP (zinc content) as possible to minimize wear on the rocker arms and cam surfaces. Zinc isn't necessarily good on the catalytic converter, though, which is why oil manufacturers have gone away from high zinc formulations. But then many of us have removed the cats anyway so no issue there.

I use Valvoline VR1 racing 20/50, for what it's worth.
Mark H. 1987 930, GP White, Wevo shifter, Borla exhaust, stock everything else. The result of a massive Pelicanite good will fire recovery effort. Truely an open book, ready for the slippery slopes to modification.
