I remember discussing the situation with my State Farm Insurance rep a few years ago. Then I was out of the coutry for months at a time and and put my car insurance on hibernation. State Farm let me do that. But I was concerned what would happen in case of fire or theft. My insurance agent told me the car could be covered even in hibernation if the car is "on blocks" and the cost would be minimal.
