MXW tyres on rear of 911

I have been in contact with Michelin Classic. They say that the 255/45 x 15 MXW tyres would fit on my 15 x 9” wheels but they are designed to balance with 195/50 x 15 tyres on the front of an Alpine V6 Turbo. I got the strong vibrations that Michelin felt they would not do much for the handling, balance and stability on a rally 911, so another idea bites the dust.

Michelin’s recommendation is to go to 16” wheels and use 245/45 ZR16’s which they make in MXX3 with Porsche N2 homologation. Other makes are available as well, Bridgestone etc. The overall diameter is only 10mm greater at 635mm than my current 23/62 R15 TB15’s. Obviously I would have to get new wheels but Minilite no longer make 16” wheels.
