Actually, 195/70 is a closer match than 195/55.

The sidewalls on a 165/80 tire are nominally 132mm tall. (165 * 0.80) The sidewalls on a 195/55 are nominally 107.25mm tall. The 195/65 would be 126.75mm tall, while a 195/70 would be 136.5mm tall.

So the 195/70 is the closest match to the original sidewall height, though it is a touch over. Many 914s can fit 205-width tires, and in that case 205/60 has a 133.25mm nominal sidewall height, which is even closer.

Of course, those numbers are only "rough guidelines", as the measured heights vary between manufacturers and even models of tire.

Lots of choices, though it is getting harder to find really good tires that fit on 15" rims any more.
