There aren't any fat 16" low profile streets available. I agree about it being a bad idea running Hoosiers on the street.
The down side to the 15's tires are really expensive. I'm referring to the Michelin TB15's and the Pirelli 345/15's.
That being said, on our '75 Carrera RS look (turbo fenders) I run 9x15 fronts w/215 Michelin TB's and 11x15 rears w/295 Michelin TB's. I just replaced the 295's w/270's.
Another option would be 17's, I'm not a fan of the 18's. Close to period correct look and the tires are more affordable. I was running 3 pc Fuchs, 9x17 fronts w/255/45/17's and 11x17 rears w/315/35/17's.
Here are a couple of comparison shots, 315/35/17 left, 295/40/15 right. If you want really fat, and a shoe horn fit you could go for 335/35/15's on 12" rears. The last shot is 295/40/15's left, 335/35/15's right.
