1987 930 turbo issue

I took the 930 out for a drive 2 weeks ago and coming home I had to stop at a intersection.....I noticed the car was idling AROUND 2,000 rpm and thought it was odd. I got home and put the car away. An hour later I went out....started it and it still ran fast (2,000 RPM). The next day when the engine was dead cold I went to start it and just cranks.....won't start. Could a hose blown off somewhere? Could it be something that simple? Is it very difficult to remove the intercooler so it's out of the way and I can see in there?
