Its not that hard to get a started after 7 plus years if stored properly.. Patience-luck-smarts-blood-sweat tears---It somehow works in the end.
If you have more time than money...then the "forced" route may work, as in might.
Negative-return investments are played out a million times every day all over the world, and here as well in terms of project cars which became financial black-holes(not all but MANY)

Getting all starry-eyed because we identify with these cars doesn't mean or guarantee the current owner may/may not take a financial bath even to get the car ready for sale in the US, never mind what's awaiting if the sale has to be made to an overseas customer if the car is not DOT cert'ed (considering it's GREY-Market vehicle)
