k27 7006 question

I have an older 7006 (it was on the car when I bought it in 2002). It appears to have an adapter in the top of it that houses an orange o-ring, and the cast up-pipe to the stock intercooler slides over it.

I am in the process of installed a TurboKraft longneck half-bay which came with a silicone hose that looks like it clamps on the turbo somehow. I'm not clear if I can clamp right over the adapter piece or if I have to get that adapter out of the turbo. Assuming I do need to remove it, does anyone know how it is secured? Press fit, epoxy, or is it actually part of the turbo and I have to cut it? Tried TurboKraft but it's Saturday and it went to v-mail.

I'm afraid it's looking like I have to remove the turbo etc if I have to wrestle with this thing... I was hoping this job could be done topside.
