It appears the bolts mounting the axle shaft to the transmission sheared. over torqued??? under torqued??? not torques at all?? I'm still waiting on a call from the shop to see what they have to say for themselves.

A common failure with backyard DIY's, but I would expect better from a shop.
What happened is that the axle flange bolts were not properly cleaned, treated with Loctite, and then torqued. Result: They back out and sheared off.
