Do you know if it has the 964 G50/03/05 or if it is the turbo G50/52?

If you could get the info off the bottom of the tranny that would help. lots of differences especially gearing and if it is a G50/52 odds are it has a 20/100 LSD. The lSD IMO is not the best a 40/60 would have been better.

Unless you find the original numbers matching engine/tranny it will always be a little bit of a bastard child. A true turbo engine non numbers matching will help but I don't think by much more over a nice setup. IMO the 3.6 N/A with a low boost intercooled engine is a nice ride. The 3.3T can be a bit laggy and boosting a 3.6 with .5 or less bar small quick spooling turbo is safe but would be more like a higher HP N/A engine than the old school turbo feel. The factory turbos offer a unique experience but it is not for everyone. You will probably be spending close to $25k for a 964 3.3T motor and then hopefully it won't need much sorting plus install. There will also be the different modules that may or may not come with it that are pricey so make sure you have everything you need as one purchase. You could be talking close to $3k for some.

A low boost I/C 3.6 N/A will run you $7-8k and will be less of a beast. I don't recall what condition you said the 3.6 was in? If you are not a huge fan of the old school single turbo feel this is a cheap alternative and in the end the parts alone will be worth a small fortune no matter what you decide to do.

I would be happy to find just a straight complete 964 turbo tub and would pay handsomely for one. But those days are few and far between.

best luck.
