porsche 930 4 speed shifter

I just bought a Porsche 930 shifter 4 speed to replace my 915 5 speed for a conversion. I noticed the metal bracket on top is not there like the one on the 915. Can anyone explain why the 4 speed doesn't have that piece. Guess that's the reverse lockout? I think it must be inside the case but wanted to ask anyway.

the reverse on the 930 gearbox is left and up, sort of like the old VW boxes but without having to depress the shift lever. Actually it's like the Audi 6 speed or BMW boxes. The 915 has it right and down just below 5th gear. The lock is important so you don't go into reverse coming out of 5th...

I have a 83 911 sc chasis and I put a 930 gearbox in my car and i used mu original 915 shifter and it worked fine. Just curious why you had to change... John

changed from 5 speed to 4 speed

I also used the 915 shiftier but bought the wevo just to make sure I got things right for the 4 speed

Do i need to modify the 915 shifter in any way to use on the 930?

What about the reverse lock out spring on the shifter? Does that just stay on? I understand the reverse position is left and up due to that being internal in the transmission box.

Do I need to modify anything other than the knob on the 915 shifter? I also have an actual 4 speed 930 shifter, but If I don't need to swap them out I won't...
