77 cars, as in 935-77, and the price is $800K. Not street legal. Racetrack only. It's pretty impressive up close, but I like the new Cup MR more. That thing is sick...

It’s a Manthey special that’s a cross between a Cup and a GT3 R. They had the whole PMNA product line on display.

Matt there is nothing better than TURBO Power you know that.I am just wondering how they will get around all the patents.The guys said they will be able to apply it to any aircooled car including the 930 and 912s.Freekin nutz

Yes. GT1 is returning for 2020 and this car is expected to be tweaked to fit.

I thought the 77 was a nod to the 935-78 designation of the original Moby Dick car. (Then why not 78 models, instead of 77? Or is Stuttgart taking a page from the Ferrari marketing textbook, and now making one less example than they think they can sell?)

But for 2020 LeMans, the rules haven't been written yet, so who knows what the homologation requirements will be? Though last time (late 90s) it was just one road-going model.

935-77 was the first werks cars including Baby. Moby Dick wasn't until a year later. They did 13 935-77a privateers in '76, but 1977 was when Porsche themselves picked up the mantle. It was the turning point year in the program and development of the car.

No, the rules aren't written yet, but do you think they write the rules in a vacuum with no feedback from or input to the manufacturers? The rulemakers know you can't just pull a car out of a hat. They want series participation, and one way to get that is keep the companies in the loop so they can do development work prior to final versions being made public. Just because we don't know the rules doesn't mean they don't.
