Confirm where to measure IMS for cam sprocket alignment

Getting ready to reassemble, double checking because I can't seem to find a definitive statement anywhere.

Behind the access plate for the intermediate shaft end there are two possible places I could measure. What appears to be a dark colored steel thrust washer looking part, and inside that the shiny end of the shaft itself. See pic.

Can someone please confirm its the inner shiny shaft end that gets measured?

The orange block is something I designed and 3D printed to hold my straightedge.
