oil drain
I am putting a gt35 turbo on my hot rod 84 Carrera (79 930 EFI motor). Knowing the GT35 has an oil restrictor, do you think it would be fine to plumb a straight line without a scavenge tank directly to the scavenge pump suction side?

I would install some sort of volume in the line and have that volume (tank) under the turbo. The scavenge tank is higher than the turbo and you may risk backflow. Especially after a hard run when the throttle is closed and an excess of oil is flowing through the turbo without enough scavenge to clear it (low rpm).
Otherwise, a gravity drain might be good. I always thought that Harold's design was really good. simple and effective 930 turbo gravity return sump plate
