Early Turbo Trunk Carpet Question
I own an early Turbo from 1977. The original trunk carpet has a burn hole in the carpet from the battery and I want to replace the carpet.
My car is very original and my question is: should I hunt and look to replace the carpet with a used carpet from another car or is there a replacement available in the market that looks just about identical to OEM? I hate to buy new only to get the carpet and it be miles from original in look and feel. Thanks in advance. Jamie |
I have the same burn mark, Jamie. I too, am unsure of what to do. Pelican has a Perlon kit for the trunk, but I can't tell how it is just from the pictures.

Hopefully someone shares their experience Bryan. Thanks for the bump.

I cut out an oval section from the original bad area (battery acid) and glued in good section from a vintage trunk carpet. It matched perfectly and you can't tell where the glued piece resides. Make sure you cut out the replacement section a little larger than the cutout hole so it will fit tight. The replacements trunk carpets that are available today don't have the same look as the originals.

Thanks Rich. Much appreciated

Bryan, if you need a piece of the carpet, drop me a note as I should have some extra once done. |
