Need help with breezy cabin
Could anyone please advise as to why so much cold air is coming through the gauges when I’m at highway speeds? It funnels in like open window.
It would be nice if this was an easy one, but something tells me it’s going to require... Well, more. Thanks everyone, just getting my 930 back after a year long ordeal, and this just wasn’t what I was expecting. |

Work in Progress

What work was done to the car over the parr year? Did they have to get up under the dash at all?
I don’t think it’s a huge problem. Certainly not to hard to remove the carpet and pull the little cardboard cover to access the HVAC parts and see if something obvious is wrong. Most likely it’s just a loose pipe or part of the system that is letting air fill up the front trunk and the faster you go the more pressure is pushing air past your gauges.

Ok this may sound stupid, but is the front bonnet latched down all the way? When I pained my last 911 I didn't adjust the front latch properly and it popped up, thankfully on the safety latch not all the way, but it got windy all of a sudden.
If anyone did any work under the dash or in the front trunk area could be either a fresh air vent host is off, or rotted out, or that curved cardboard cover thingie at the rear of the trunk is missing.

Check the bulkhead above the floor, and behind the passenger side footboard. Both these areas have often been modified for better a/c efforts, and then later abandoned with the holes left open. Also, in the smugglers box, under the A/C unit, there.. is a large opening (like a waste line access in a home) that may not be capped off but should be cause it can be one helluva source for air entry into the cabin... guess how I know? ![]()

Uncertifiable!!!

As pointed out above, the hood rubber is a primary culprit. Also, the seal around the gas tank, which is more difficult to rectify.
In my RST build, i was always conscious that the frunk should be well sealed to avoid a drafty cabin. In spite of my significant efforts, I ended up with cold knees from a downward draft. I found that I had to go back and “chink” the space between the dash and steel face with foam rubber strips used on windows and doors. Admittedly, I have not yet overcome the remaining draft around the centre A/C vent. Cheers, Johan
