VDO Boost gauge tell-tale adjustment
I recently had my secondary boost gauge repaired at North Hollywood Speedometer and it initially worked fine, however after a couple of weeks I noticed the boost needle sticking and would not return to zero. A little tap on the gauge and it would drop. Anyhow it has been driving me nuts so I took it apart. I appears as though the tell-tale needle was touching the center of the boost needle after the lens ring was put back on and pressed tight. It was more of a problem as the ambient temperature inside the car went up as well. We have had a couple of warm days in Virginia so far.
I went on a test run last night with the glass and tell-tale removed and the VDO mechanical boost worked perfectly. It tracked very closely to the factory boost gauge below the tach. Now to figure out how to reassemble the glass and tell-tale and leave enough space between the needles to not impede operation of the gauge. ![]() Last edited by Capt Bob; 05-27-2020 at 04:17 AM.. |

I've got a similar VDO/telltale boost gauge that makes a lot of racket--do you recommend NHS? I've heard better feedback about Palo Alto Speedometer...I'm going to use one or the other.
