Beautiful day for detailing
Anyhow I've never been happy with condition of the underside of my tea tray. Sand paint and reinstall with correct shade of black is the goal and to get the light working again as well. I'd like add if anyone knows the correct shade of black it would be greatly appreciated!
This light has never been touched.. I'd say for nearly 40 years! I'd also like to get my inside doors detailed out. Bought cleaner wax and carnauba was as well. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Painted light housing and trim pieces. They actually took a bit of time. The perp work just to paint was a few hours. Now the task of removing all the grease and dirt from the paint and polishing. I have 5 + hours of work this far. I still cannot get the light to work I have cleaned sanded the contacts and am following the right procedure to turn the light on.

Yes surprising how good they can look after a few hours of waxing with cleaner wax. I know there is wax in cracks as I'm still working on this door but you see the outcome. ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Beautiful day for detailing
Work accomplished after 8 hours. I never work more than 4 hours at a time as it can become quite trying at times. I'm probably 30% done as what is left are the difficult areas to get to. I've not devised a way to detail these areas yet.
I used paint thinner and acetone to clean and detail the painted areas that had been untouched for 40 years. Please know that GREAT CARE is needed with acetone as it will eat right through the clear coat if left on the paint for 10 minutes or longer. I never leave it set for longer than 10 seconds and wax all the areas around for good measure to protect the paint. This is going to be a involved process as I want to compete in the preservation class. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Looks great. You're very brave to put acetone on anything painted. I'd use 99% isopropyl.

Yes but from what I read a sunroof was not standard on 78/79 RoW 930s. I recently learned that in 1979 the factory built a handful 935s for customer race teams. This is exciting as the 934/935 race cars were still being produced by the factory when my car was built. So at that time these 930s really were detuned race cars for the road! Don't use acetone on paint! Naphtha is far safer and will remove tar, bugs, etc.!

Your right for a novice. I was very careful and acetone probably saved me 40 + hours in detailing.. But yes you must be very very CAREFUL. I would not recommend it for anyone who was not very experienced on here. I guess at this point I DO NOT RECOMMEND ACETONE. I've had years working with this chemical and know how to use it and how not to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Have you confirmed the contacts are getting power with a multi-meter? Maybe bypass the contact switch, or at least check continuity that it works as well.

No I need to. I did l look at the wiring diagram but decided I better let my mechanic tend to.. I feel like someone has already messed with this.. I suspect the body shop cut the wire years ago.. Best let a pro tackle this one.
