911 Turbo Air Injection

Did all 911 Turbos in1978 have Air Injection.

I know for certain that USA delivered did, and seem to remember that European models did as well (the last time I looked at the UK Porsche parts manual).

Air injection is the correct term for a "smog pump." Air is injected via a tubular manifold to the back side of the exhaust valves to reduce emissions.

When I readjusted my turbo 86, the engine builder told me: the air makes the exhaust hotter because it contains oxygen. I have therefore expanded it.
If you want to know if your exhaust valves / guides look good, remove the manifold and look inside.
