Overboost and FP relay garbage!
 

So during my turbo install my fuel pumps would not turn on. I consulted with Dawe’s and he gave me advice as what to test. I tested continuity and determined the overboost switch and pressure sending unit we faulty...or so I thought. I ordered new ones and installed them but the fuel pumps would not turn on. After carefully going back through everything I touched, it turned out i had accidentally knocked off a ground wire of another switch. I decided to install the new switches anyway and two new fuel pump relays. Car drove great for about 15 minutes then the fuel pumps were cutting out during when boost kicked in. So after getting back home, and making a call...i was told to put the old overboost switch back on. Drove the car once again and it drove ok until the intermittent fuel pump cutout issue came back..just during normal driving. So I drove back home and swapped back my old relays. Went for a drive and all was great again. I can’t believe that a brand new overboost switch and fp relays would be such crap. Hopefully Pelican will either refund me or exchange the faulty switch and relays.

Did you bench test your over boost switch ? new and old ?

Are you absolutely sure of your boost pressure ?

No I did not. Car was running great prior to the new switch and relays. Afterwards it ran like crap by cutting off my fuel pumps during any boost(low or high). By replacing everything back with the prior items the symptoms all went away and she is back to normal. Keep in mind the only reason I replaced them was because I accidentally disconnected a ground wire on a separate switch and could not get the fuel pumps to
run. I wrongly determined it was the switch because I grounded the white wire and the fuel pumps ran. So I had a ground issue. Which is what happens when the switch goes bad but the ground issue turned out to be something else. Oh and the next symptom went away after I replaced the new fuel pump relays with the prior ones. Either way she’s running great.

My God what a pain in the buttt.I am glad all is swell again.
