Turn signal problem

The cars is an 1989 turbo when I use the turn signal all the gauges die and the blinkers don't work. Everything else appears to work fine.
I've had turn signal switches go bad but not like this any ideas would be helpful I still have 2000 miles until I get home.

just move down here where no one uses their turn signals and problem solved because if you do they just speed up and block you..

what do you mean by the gauges die.
like the oil pressure gauge goes to zero.
the tach stops working,

maybe a little more background,
did you buy it this way
did you some work on it
did it just start doing this all on its own.

T77911s I did just have a bunch of work done but the only thing on the dash would have been the speedometer, and that was done before 2000 mile trip earlier this year. The car had to go back for some other issue and I picked it up last Tuesday.
I picked the car up went to Vegas, L.A. then on to Monterey. About 50 miles after leaving Monterey to San Francisco when I used the blinkers the tach started to jump, a couple times later all the gauges died , oil pressure, oil temp, tach, fuel gauge, turn the blinkers off they all jump back to life
I made it to San Francisco pull into the garage and check to see if the blinkers work. No blinkers but head lights are fine and the cigarette lighter still worked the whole time ( phone plugged in charger illuminated).
I went down and checked a few hours after arriving and everything worked properly next day everything worked also.
I will be leaving here later this week and I guess hope for the best. I was hoping it could just be the turn signal switch or blinker relay.
Thanks Mike

you might look at the ground connections behind the dash. not sure how many or exactly where they are but maybe one is lose.
i "think" there is one around the brake booster and one more towards the middle of the car.

now i am thinking just a bad connection

all the power for the instruments comes from one point. if you have a bad connection, the added current load could make the instruments stop working,

you might try to get the shop that pulled the speedo out to fix it, sounds like they may have not connected something very well.

T77911s thank you for the help I'll check best I can unfortunately it won't just be a hanging wire since everything is working for now.
I was going to take a northern route home but really don't want to drive across the country with no blinkers and worrying about some other electrical issue. So maybe through A.Z.
Thanks again Mike

that's the problem, cant fix it if it aint broke.

one of those things you may just have to wiggle some wires and check for ones that are lose.

They always come back. Don't usually fix themselves. We will wait for the next posting :-)
