RTA and pink noise
Folks, this may not be new news to you but it was to me. I took out my old Blaupunkt with separate equalizer in the glove box, and stored them and plugged in a new Alpine with bluetooth and built in equalizer.
There are apps for our phones called RTA applications and they sometimes include pink noise generators. You can use these (free) resources to tune your usb or bluetooth stereo to get much better sound. I know none of us actually listen to the radio when we are breaking the speed limits, but once in a while you may want to test your stereo to see if it actually works. I calibrated mine over the last weekend and the improvement was dramatic. Basic principle is turn on radio, select USB or bluetooth to connect your phone; turn on RTA app and generate pink noise; adjust bass/mid/treble to get as flat as possible across all frequencies --- that's it. Sound separation is impressive to me. Did the same in my F150 - amazing difference (stock components). Good luck!
