Anyone using a CAN Buss Gauge with ECU?

I'm thinking of swapping out my AFR gauge and using CAN buss with this instead.

Is anyone using something like this or this? If so, feedback?

I have an AEM infinity and built my own canbus multigage. I owe you guys a thread on it in the future. I replaced the clock and can output anything I want. Moreover, I can inject accelerometer/gyro/gps data.

Ironically, the only gage I am missing to add is the clock gage that the multigage is replacing. I have a screen where I show the most important parameters for me for tuning with boost. It shows AFRs, Boost, IAT and Injector feedback all in one screen. No need to lug a computer around anymore. I really, really like having the data so readily available.

Sweet! Did you use a teensy board with the canbus adapter and one of those 1.4" oled displays?

That was my plan until I saw these.

Teensy should work. I used an Arduino mega with a canbus adapter and a 3 in display. The display is mounted on the clock hole but from behind. I wish I could get it closer but that means a smaller display. No one makes a decent round screen.

I also built kind of an armrest between the seats to hold the hardware inside. I will be mounting switches there.

I'd love to see your design/code. I'd probably try and build off a smaller board, I actually have a couple of teensy's and the canbus piece on hand, but I'm doing a lot of esp8266 right now and its small too and would give me wifi for data logging. I have a couple of sub 2" OLEDs that are touch screen so I could make it tap to change display, maybe rotate through 3 or 4 key measurements. Put it on a circular board and mount a ring of LEDs for a sort of analog display around it.

I like my clock, but I've designed/printed a really nice 52mm gauge holder to replace the radio.

Have you looked at Perfect Tuning: https://perfecttuning.net/en/gauge/54-universal-gauge.html. It will work with Microsquirt.

I have installed this with my MS3/MS3X install. Get all info to the gage over the CAN Bus. I have a thread here where I install it in place of the clock, had to make an adapter to fit the gage into an empty gage/clock housing.

Will it? It was unclear to me from reading the description. I left a message on DIYAutotune web site but have yet to hear back from them.

I'll look at your thread.

If its not in the thread, are you able to get AFR, Boost, ign adv, and iat on the gauge?

dap930 08-16-2020 07:20 AM

You can select one, two, three or four functions to view on the gage at the same time. I am not familiar with Microsquirt, but any basic functions that you can log in TS should be able to be displayed on the gage.

Megasquirt forum member Suprazz developed and produces this CAN Bus gage. You could email him: support@perfecttuning.net with any questions.

You can monitor just about any parameter from Megasquirt. It even has a shift light setting.

I also have a Perfect Tuning gauge connected to Microsquirt. Works great. It has multiple screens and each screen is configurable for what parameters you want to show.

I 3D printed an adapter ring for my clock hole that uses the stock clock trim ring. You could use the glass cover plate as well but that covers the config buttons.

Is it a standard 52mm gauge body?

dap930 08-17-2020 06:51 AM

The gage mounts in a 52mm opening, but the display steps up to 69mm.
