Engine pad fitment issues?

With my recent engine drop, I decided to go with the top of the line engine pad from our host.

The install of the pad went fine, but now when I'm reinstalling the stock airbox the pad is in the way, preventing the airbox from going back in.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I trimmed the pad to get the airbox in

This is my first engine drop, is it possible that I've somehow reinstalled the engine higher than it was before?

The insulation blankets are a different part # for the turbo 930 556 891 02 but only differ in the cutout for the air filter housing. The original blankets from back in the day had a very thick PVC cover over the foam base but at least a decade ago they changed the covering to a very thin, flimsy black skin that is useless. Joe Enselmo still sells the older style PVC blankets but they need to be trimmed slightly to fit correctly and they only come in the standard 911 version 911 556 891 01. I usually just drop the motor an inch or two to remove and reinstall the air filter housing so as not to have to cut out a full size blanket to facilitate removal.

Richard, when you do the engine drop for only a few inches, are you doing that only via the engine mount bolts, or do you loosen the transmission bolt mounts as well?

I've done an engine drop, but I don't want to partially drop it and stress something (like the transmission input shaft, etc).

Thanks,

Don

So I ended up dropping the engine to get the air cleaner off as I had wedged it in there.

After trimming all the parts of the pad above the mass airflow plate, the air box still won’t clear the two screws.

I think this might be due to me replacing the 3 rubber insulators that the FD/MAF assembly sits on. I also replaced the engine mounts so it may be sitting a bit higher for that reason too.

Which makes me wonder...does anyone know if the air box was supposed to originally come off without dropping the engine a bit?
