How do you properly install Rebel Racing mounts?
I got my engine and transmission back in the car last night, after 8 months!
I've got Rebel Racing blue engine mounts and their black split mounts for the transmission. I want to make sure I've got them installed correctly wrt the washers. As far as the engine mounts I just have the bolt going through the thick washer supplied by RR through the mount and into the engine carrier crossmember. Pretty sure that's correct. I'm less sure about the transmission. The original had two very large dished out washers top and bottom sandwiching the rubber mount and then a thick "fender washer" size washer under the bolt head. When I reassembled using the new mounts there doesn't look like much thread with the thich "fender washer" under the bolt head, so I just used the two large dish washers to sandwich the mount. Is this correct, or should I put the "fender washer" back under the bolt head, or some other configuration? Thanks

I used the supplied large washers on both sides of the pillows and a Schnorr washer for the center bolt. If you are having issues getting enough treads to start on the transmission center bolt I found that if you very lightly jack under the turbo to remove twisting from the turbo weight helps to get everything aligned.

On the split transmission mounts I ended up with the large cup washers on either side of the mount plus a large flat washer under the bolt head just like the factory setup.

Greetings. I finally got around to installing my 'recently' purchased Rebel Racing engine and semi-solid two piece black transmission mounts on the 1982 930 - as per Flightlead's narrative.
Before I do the final crank to Porsche's recommended torque of 58 ft lbs on the 12 mm bolt I'm curious what others have been doing where Rebel Racing is silent on installation and Wevo recommends 40 ft lbs for both their engine and transmission mounts?. Wevo and Rebel look to be similar engineering/qualities. Less torque for Wevo due to the materials used (poly vs rubber)? Any thoughts on Wevo's torque recommendation of 40 ft lbs from others who have installed these after market mounts? Cheers! Denis Last edited by DaytonaCoupe66; 12-10-2020 at 09:19 PM..
