Question 930 differential gears

Hello

'79 930 Euro , standard diff , non lsd

Replaced cv joints on LH driveshaft , in phase etc & reinstalled on car.

When in gear & just the LH rear jacked up with wheel removed ,noticed that when rotate the hub back & forth , there is approx 10mm rotational free play at the flange OD at the trans.

Is this typical ?

Yes. It’s called lash. Too much is a sign of wear, but unless you’ve tracked it a lot it really best on it, it’s unlikely you have a problem.
